Along the busy Jomtien beach road are many guest houses and some private residential condominiums. This beach is also very popular by the Thais mainly visiting on weekends and on public holidays.
Na Jomtien Beach is a more secluded extension of the Jomtien beach towards Ban Amphor and Bang Saray. There are mainly sandy beaches, some holiday resorts and private residential condominiums. Living there you need your own transportation.

Thai economy to grow 7-8 percent The Thai economy could expand by seven to eight per cent this year on the back of the recovery in the tourism sector and the investment in the Strong Thailand (Thai Khem Kaeng) stimulus scheme by the government, the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) said. "The economy is expected to grow by four to five per cent in the second half of the year. "The fragile economy in the US and European Union should not have much effect on the Thai economy," Thanawat Polwichai, director of Economic and Business Forecasting Centre of the university said on Thursday. He suggested the government rapidly settle the environmental impasse in Rayong's Map Ta Phut industrial estate to restore the confidence of investors. Mr Thanawat warned that if the government fails to do so, GDP growth this year could be less than four per cent. BANGKOK POST Bangkok voted world's best cityBangkok has been voted the world's best city, followed by Chiang Mai, in the magazine Travel + Leisure 's 2010 World's Best Awards readers survey. The survey was carried out before the red shirt rallies and ensuing military action in May. Florence in Italy, San Miguel de Allende in Mexico and Rome,Italy were the other cities that made up the top five. Bangkok returns to the No.1 spot, having last held that ranking in 2008. The capital ranked third last year and Chiang Mai was fifth. A questionnaire developed by the editors of Travel + Leisure ,in association with ROI Research Inc, was made available to its readers from Dec 15, 2009, to March 31,2010. Bangkok Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra yesterday said he will go to New York next week to receive the award,the ceremony for which will be held on Wednesday. MR Sukhumbhand said he is pleased with the award and it shows that Bangkok's popularity among tourists worldwide remains good. Thailand condos remain very attractive to buyers
Condominium projects in Thailand will continue enjoying the highest growth among other kinds of property projects this year, according to one industry executive. Samma Kittasin, Director of the Property Data Center, said condominium projects remained very attractive among potential buyers in the first quarter of this year as the number of condominium units whose ownership was already transferred totaled 60,000 units, more than double that of the same quarter last year. He said another 60,000 units are due to start up in the rest of this year. Actually, many property developers planned to launch their projects in the second quarter, but had to postpone the inauguration due to the recent political turmoil. They are monitoring the economic situation in the third quarter of this year. Should the situation improve and return to normal, they will launch the construction of the 60,000 units in the fourth quarter, he said. Mr Samma said the information gathered by the center showed the proper projects, particularly condominiums, which gain great popularity among consumers, are located in areas where there are mass transit systems. Last year, projects, which are of interest among potential purchasers, are located along the Blue Line Bangsue - Tha Phra electricity train route, the Blue Line Hua Lampong - Bangkae route, the Red Line Bangsue - Rangsit route, the Green Line Berling - Rangsit route, and the Green Line Mor Chit - Saphan Mai route. The number of condominium units sold in 2009 totaled 87,500 and those expected to be sold this year are projected to reach 189,000 units. RL News
First five months show a 16% increase Despite a curfew and violent clashes in Bangkok, Thailand still welcomed 821,090 visitors this May, representing a 11% decline on 923,916 visitors recorded in May 2009. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports released details of tourist arrivals at all checkpoints for the first five months of the year at a press conference last Friday. Overall, the country's performance improved 16% in the first five months of the year with 6,563,099 visitors compared to 5,654,541 visitors during the same period in 2009 Based on the ministry's data, May was the only month showing a significant decline with April down just 0.16% at 1,083,567 visits compared to 1,085,293 in April 2009. March 2010 was ahead 16.35% with 1,439,401 visits, compared with 1,237,132 in March 2009. February data showed a gain of 41% with 1,614,844 visits compared to 1,138,220 in February 2009, while January was ahead by 26.32% - 1,604,197 visits compared to 1,269,978 in January 2009. Private sector representatives are critical of the ministry's data claiming it is inaccurate and dated. However, in response to the current industry crisis, it has delivered timely data, although the jury might be out on whether it is an accurate profile of the country's tourism performance. In the first five months, East Asia remained the top supplying market delivering a 15% growth from 2,784,136 in 2009 to 3,203,274 this year. Top suppliers were: Malaysia (770,804) up 9%; China (428,709) up 38%; Japan (419,930) up 9%; Korea (335,648) up 32%; Laos (278,525) down 0.64%. Singapore (229,476) up 13% and Vietnam (155,406) up 12% were markets of note ahead of Hong Kong (125,256) up 7%. European markets increased 18.77% from 1,731,828 to 2,056,891. The top suppliers were: UK (352,586) but increasing by just 4.75%; Germany (293,670) up 20%; Russia (284,424) up 101%; France (206,599) up 15%; Sweden (193,719) up 9.7%. In other markets the five-month data indicated India was a market worth focusing on with 277,393 trips, and increasing 22% over the same period last year.
